For many moons now, fans of rotisserie chicken have been making comments, both online and among each other that the Swiss Chalet Owen Sound location was in need of a makeover.
And then, one day it happened – the windows were covered in craft paper and up went the “closed for renovations” sign.
Watching the restaurant’s exterior gradually transform into a more sophisticated-looking facade added to the anticipation of what to expect once the restaurant opened its doors.
That moment came this past Thursday when co-owners Ali and Manon Shiralian, who’ve owned the Swiss Chalet / Harvey’s dual restaurant since 2010, decided there had been enough waiting and it was time to welcome the public into their brand new dining room.
Gone are the infamous blinds and the restaurant now boasts a warm, comforting decor that encourages people to take their time and enjoy their food and the company they’re enjoying their food with.
GreyBruce Now met with Ali Shiralian to discuss what brought about the renovations as well as what the community can expect going forward from their local Swiss Chalet:
“Word of mouth in the dining room, our patrons really wanted something newer,” Shiralian explains “especially with other restaurants around here such as Kelsey’s and Montana’s having recently renovated, we thought we should keep up.”
Asked about how his patrons have taken to the changes, Shiralian says, “So far, the renovations have been very well received – far beyond our expectations.”
The changes weren’t exclusive to the Swiss Chalet, however.
The Harvey’s also got a facelift, one that clearly separates it from other fast food burger restaurants.
When it was remarked that the new look of the Harvey’s gives it a pub-like feel where folks could enjoy a beer, Shiralian had an interesting remark:
“They’re [Recipes Unlimited – Harvey’s parent company] having internal talks about looking to introduce beer as an option for people. The plans are in the preliminary stages right now. I know another fast food change has recently gotten licensed to sell beer.”
There is another reason for fans of roasted chicken to visit the location.
A new menu will be introduced on Monday (the 15th of July) and will feature a wide range of new options that include salads, sandwiches and a couple of new items on the Harvey’s side (which now offers a new brioche bun option for its burgers).
